KCUA EXHIBITIONS
From the Collection of the Kyoto City University of Arts Art Museum
Almuni master works of KCUA Design Course : from the Collections Arts Museum of KCUA
This was the 5th exhibition of the “Footsteps of Art” series, which shows the history built between KCUA’s students and instructors through their works. The exhibition featured decorative wall art made between the end of the Meiji period and the pre-war Showa period, selected from the collection of the KCUA Art Museum. These works were made as graduation projects by Design students of the Kyoto Municipal School of Arts and Crafts, which is what KCUA was known as from 1894 to 1901. Both early modern Kyoto-style industrial designs and the then-recently imported Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles could be seen in the works, showing the youthful, bold, and challenging spirit of those years.
