Still Moving Library
Library, a place where books, information and people gather. In 2023, Kyoto City University of Arts will move to an area near Kyoto Station. The library will be in the center of the building where Kyoto City University of Arts Gallery @KCUA will be located. There will be various departments and institutions around the well hole shaped library, which we hope will create a diverse range of unique encounters and collaborations.
A library is a place where many materials and archives are gathered and where people also gather. People who come to read books, seek quiet places, attend events and courses and also people who work at the library choose and use the information in this place. These can all be considered as a way of ‘re-editing’ the library’s tangible and intangible archives.
‘Still Moving Library’ is a limited-time space for thinking about the use of a place called a library through the “re-editing” of information.
